The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre issued a written message on Monday to mark the anniversary of the Limassol Resistance.
In his message issued on Monday to mark the 59th anniversary of the Limassol Resistance, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people will never forget the heroic struggle waged by the Turkish Resistance Organisation’s (TMT) Limassol Headquarters.
In his message, Töre noted that the struggle waged by the TMT and the martyrs should set an example for all.
Töre reminded that the freedom fighters, who held up the resistance under extremely difficult conditions had not allowed the Greek forces to break through the defences and had successfully pushed back EOKA fighters who had far more superior numbers and weapons.
Töre also conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake that took place in Türkiye.
