Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre stated that the only solution for Cyprus is a two-state solution and asked the whole world to respect this.

Töre who received British Parliamentarians asked for support for direct flights to begin to Ercan Airport.

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre received a delegation consisting of UK Conservative Party MPs and members of the Freedom and Justice Initiative for Northern Cyprus.

Speaking during the visit Töre told the delegation that the Turkish Cypriot people were forced to live under embargoes and isolation and asked for their support to make the Turkish Cypriot peoples voices heard.

Noting that their expectations have increased even more after the UK’s departure from the European Union, Töre said that they also expect direct flights to start.

Explaining that they want to live in peace but they do not want to return to the past, Töre said that it was the Greek Cypriot terrorist organization EOKA and the Greek junta that created the Cyprus issue.

He noted that the only solution for the island of Cyprus is a two-state solution and asked the whole world to respect this.

Pointing to the importance of the delegation visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Töre said that foreign delegations only visiting south Cyprus further pushed the Greek Cypriots to not support a solution on the island.
