Töre receives earthquake volunteers who participated in rescue efforts

The President of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre on Wednesday received a delegation made up of volunteers who took part in search and rescue efforts in the earthquake disaster in Türkiye.

Speaking during the visit, Töre stressed that he believed that the team will mobilize voluntarily should a similar disaster take place in other parts of the world.

The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre, received the group of volunteers who took part in the search and rescue efforts in areas affected by the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye, and praised their efforts, describing it as an admirable act that interpreted the emotions of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people, Türkiye and the Turkish nation suffered a devastating tragedy, Töre noted that the team demonstrated the Turkish nation’s dedication.

Stating that they did not want such a disaster to happen in any region of the world, the Parliamentary Speaker said he believed that the team will mobilize voluntarily should such a disaster occur in other parts of the world.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Dr. Tayfun Çanakçı said that they were deeply saddened not to have been able to rescue anyone alive from the wreckage of the İsias hotel but that nevertheless they had contributed to the recovery of the bodies
