Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre has underlined the need to create resources for the Immovable Property Commission (IPC).

Töre’s remarks came whilst receiving members of the Immovable Property Commission Committee established within the Turkish Cypriot Bar Association.

Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre on Monday received the members of the Immovable Property Commission Committee.

Speaking during the visit, Töre highlighted the importance of the committee and the need to speedily process and finalise applications.

Stating that they will do their part as the parliament, Töre noted that legal arrangements can be made through cooperation.

Reminding that the world was imposing unjust embargoes on the Turkish Cypriot people, the acting president said that similar examples can be seen in Bosnia, Gaza and Kosovo.

Touching upon UN resolution 186 dated March 4, 1964, Töre said that the Turkish Cypriots were excluded and their partnership was occupied by the Greek Cypriots.

Stating that Turkish Cypriots also have rights in the Turkish properties remaining in the South of the island and in the occupied Republic of Cyprus, Töre said that the Turkish Cypriots left all their properties in the south and moved to the north, underlining that they will continue to live their lives as two equal sovereigns.
