Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre received a delegation from the North Cyprus Environmental and Cultural Heritage Preservation Foundation.

Speaking during the visit the Chairman of the foundation Ezcan Özsoy stated that they had prepared bird nests to be placed in the areas damaged by forest fires under the slogan “Plant an olive tree and you too will have a bird’s nest”.

He also stated that the children receiving treatment in the oncology department had painted the bird’s nests and that the foundation would like to hang one of these nests in the Parliament’s garden, if deemed appropriate.

For his part Parliamentary Speaker Töre stated that protecting the environment and the natural structure was a long-term effort and noted that it takes a long time to compensate for some damages that occurred in nature.

Referring to the recent fire that broke out in the Geçitköy region, Töre urged everyone to be careful and noted that this fire took place at the beginning of summer and therefore is an important sign of the potential dangers we could faced in the near future.

Also noting that they were closely following the efforts of the Foundation to protect and restore nature and were very pleased with their work, Töre said that the assembly is always ready to do its part on these matters.

“We must make life more beautiful. That’s why everyone has to make an effort and contribute. Only then will we create a better country” said Töre.
