The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre received Elman Nasirov a deputy from the Azerbaijan National Assembly and his accompanying delegation.

Töre said that the Turkish Cypriot people are a part of the great Turkic world and established the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Stating that they are honoured to be a member of the Turkic nation, Töre noted that the Turkish Cypriots love Azerbaijan very much and feel very close to them.

He also stated that North Cyprus now has a homeland beyond Anatolia and the name of this homeland is Azerbaijan.

Töre emphasized that they do not see the Turkic States established in Central Asia as different from themselves and said, “It is not right to make a differentiation between Turkic states”.

He said that the Great Turkish Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk saying ‘How happy I am to say I am a Turk’ is an example for all of us.

Töre said that they are one with Azerbaijan and they are pleased that Nagorno-Karabakh was liberated from occupation.

Noting that the Turkish Cypriots are observer members of the Organization of Turkic States and will soon become full members, Töre said that they want to cooperate with Turkic states in the field of economy and culture.

Azerbaijan National Assembly Deputy Elman Nasirov for his part said that they attach great importance to the relations with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and they are pleased that the TRNC is a member of the Organization of Turkic States.
