The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is the national state of everyone who says “How Happy I am to be a Turk”, a phrase used by the great Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Töre made the statement while he received a delegation from the Vatan Party (Patriotic Party) from Türkiye.

According to the statement made by the Republic’s Assembly, Töre received the Vatan Party Secretary General Özgür Bursalı, the head of the İzmir Province Çağdaş Cengiz and TRNC Representative Cihangir Özyer.

Speaking during the visit the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said that they have always been aware of the Party’s ideals and the support it gives to the TRNC, emphasizing that the TRNC is the national state of all those who say “How Happy I am to be a Turk”.

On this issue of the TRNC’s survival, Töre said that they are on the same path as the Patriotic Party, and will never compromise on the concept of the Blue Homeland.

Noting that there are major interventions by imperialist powers in and around the Eastern Mediterranean, Töre noted that their greatest strength is motherland Türkiye.

Referring to the efforts of these powers to exclude Türkiye from the region, Töre stated that they will continue their struggle together with motherland Türkiye.

Vatan Party Secretary General Özgür Bursalı for his part also stated that they support the efforts to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a state and noted that they are always eager to share their views on this issue.
