The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre received the President of Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Ebubeki Şahin and his accompanying delegation.

Speaking during the visit, Töre said that the Cyprus cause was a matter of honour and pride for the Turkish nation.

Accompanying the RTÜK delegation was the head of the TRNC’s Higher Broadcasting Council (YYK) Feyzi Hansel and several other board members.

Receiving the delegation, the TRNC Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre said that they were happy to become observer members of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS).

Reminding that this week marked in history the beginning of the bloody attacks against Turkish Cypriots, Töre said that attempts to unite the island with Greece or achieve ENOSİS were thwarted by the heroic resistance put up by the Turkish Cypriot people.

“The Cyprus cause is the Turkish nation’s honour and pride,” Töre said, questioning the presence of countries such as the UK, US and Russia in the Eastern Mediterranean.

He pointed out that Türkiye had the longest stretch of coastline along the Mediterranean.

For his part, the President of Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Ebubeki Şahin said that they supported the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on every platform.

He also said that their collaboration with the TRNC’s Higher Broadcasting Council will continue.
