Töre visited Vakıflar Administration

Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre visited the Turkish Cypriot Vakıflar Administration.

During the visit, Töre mentioned that there are many Vakıf owned lands remaining in South Cyprus and noted that Vakıf properties cannot be transferred in any way.

Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre who visited the Turkish Cypriot Vakıflar Administration was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, the General Director of the Vakıflar Administration and was informed regarding the work being carried out by the administration.

Speaking during the visit Töre wished Tümer success at his new position and expressed the belief that Tümer will keep the spirit of the Vakıflar alive in the best possible way.

Reminding that he had toured Maraş with the delegations from Türkiye in the past weeks, Töre underlined that it is a historical fact that Maraş was built on lands owned by the Vakıflar.

Pointing out that it was a very important turning point for the Turkish Cypriot people to take over the Vakıflar from the British Administration; Töre commemorated with respect Dr. Fazıl Küçük, who played an important role in the realization of this event, and the people who donated their properties.

The General Director of the Vakıflar Administration Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer for his part noted that the biggest reason for the establishment of the Vakıflar was to support the poor by distributing the income and welfare in society.
