Töre visits BRT, praises corporation’s broadcasting

The Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Zorlu Töre, visited the Bayrak Radio Television Corporation on Wednesday.

During the visit, BRTK Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt provided Töre with information about the latest activities carried out by the corporation and emphasized that with the investments made by the institution, support is provided not only to public broadcasting but also to private broadcasting in the country.

Töre for his part underlined the importance of BRT for the national cause, stating that the corporation’s broadcasts are the most trusted and watched broadcasts in the country.

Welcoming Töre, BRTK Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt said that BRT had a responsibility not only as the state broadcaster but also as a technical support provider for private stations and media outlets.

“This year, we will support radios and make efforts with infrastructure to ensure that both BRT and their voices come out stronger,” she said.

The Acting President and Parliamentary Speaker Töre for his part praised BRT’s pioneering role in both radio and television broadcasting.

“BRT is indispensable for us. It is the state’s top-level broadcasting organ,” he said, expressing parliament’s unwavering support.

Highlighting that BRT’s broadcasts are the most trusted and watched, Töre expressed his hope for the continuation of the institution’s successes.

He reminded that BRT had provided an essential service during the struggle years as people would remain glued to their radios to keep updated on the latest developments.

Töre added that Bayrak Radio had also served to heighten the Turkish Cypriot people’s morale at their darkest hour.

“Bayrak Radio, which started its broadcasting using car batteries, today, is a modern and technologically impressive broadcasting corporation, the pride of the Turkish Cypriot people,” he said.
