Acting President and the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre also expressed wholehearted applause for the messages Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan conveyed to the world regarding the national cause, the Cyprus issue, during his speech at the 78th United Nations General Assembly.

Acting President and the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre issued a written statement on Tuesday regarding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s speech at the 78th United Nations General Assembly.

In his statement, Töre said, “We once again salute President Erdoğan for reiterating his call made last year for the recognition of the independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and for establishing commercial and diplomatic relations with the TRNC to the international community.”

“In addition, Mr. President’s emphasis on the developments concerning the Pile-Yiğitler road and bringing this issue to the agenda of the General Assembly, reminding the United Nations of its duties and the principle of impartiality before the UN, is important for the international community to understand the reality of what is happening in Cyprus” he noted.

“The statement ‘The world is greater than five,’ as stressed by President Erdoğan, has proven to be very apt, especially in light of the recent developments regarding Pile” Töre added.

Expressing gratitude to President Erdoğan on behalf of the people for once again echoing the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people to the whole world, Töre stressed, “I want to convey that we will continue our march on this path, in unity with our motherland, to build the Turkish century, as President Erdoğan has always highlighted.”
