The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre also issued a message marking the 8th of March International Women’s Day.
In his message, Töre stressed that women, who represent love, self-sacrifice, productivity and sensitivity, were the cornerstones of a healthy and productive society.
He also noted that the day was of great importance in the country as well as in other parts of the world, in terms of improving the political and social awareness of women on the basis of human rights.
“Our women, who represent love, self-sacrifice, productivity and sensitivity, are the cornerstones of a healthy and productive society,” Töre said, adding that women should be included in all walks of life.
Stating that serious progress had been made in women’s rights with the spread of democracy and human rights across the world, the parliamentary speaker stressed that the reforms on women’s rights were vital to protect their existence in a safe and effective manner all over the world.
“On International Women’s Day, women’s problems are expressed, experiences are shared, women’s expectations from society are emphasized, and one of the best examples of inter-women solidarity is exhibited through various events organized,” Töre noted.
He concluded his remarks by congratulating all women on their success and wishing them a happy 8th of March International Women’s Day with his deepest feelings.
