The Deputy Prime Ministry- Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment has announced that it is planning to implement a number of projects in 2023.
A statement issued by the ministry said that the decision to ban the use of nylon shopping bags as of June 29, 2023 is one of a number of steps that will be taken to protect the environment.
According to the statement released by the Ministry’s press bureau, projects set to be completed in 2023 include the restoration and revamp of the old Girne Harbour.
It said that the restoration, once completed, aims to attract more tourists and visitors.
The ministry said that new projects to be implemented include the introduction of a continuous waste water monitoring system which will monitor water discharged into the sea along the coastline 7/24 for cleaner beaches and bathing waters.
“The ban of the use of nylon shopping bags across the whole of the TRNC as of June 29, 2023 is part of steps that will be taken to protect and preserve the environment,” the statement read.
