Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu took part on a program on BRT today and announced that a new sea port will be built in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Pointing out that the Embassy of Türkiye in Lefkoşa is different from embassies in other countries, Ambassador Feyzioğlu said that in addition to its foreign policy mission, it also has a Development and Economic Cooperation mission.

“We have two parts that act together on the axis of the national cause. One is foreign policy. Our diplomats are highly competent and distinguished names raised by Türkiye. We also have a development and economic cooperation wing. Through this office, we are strengthening the infrastructure of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We work to ensure that the TRNC has a productive economy that stands on its own feet.”

Giving news that a new sea port will be built either on the North coast or on the Gazimağusa side depending on the cost of construction and transportation, Feyzioğlu said “One port in Gazimağusa is not enough for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”

Touching upon the new Ercan Airport, which will be inaugurated on July 20, Feyzioğlu said that it will make a great contribution to tourism and the economy with an annual passenger capacity of 10 million.

He added that the new Ercan Airport will be the largest airport on the island.

“These are the necessities of being a state. This is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. As the late Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş said, let us protect our state” said Feyzioğlu.
