Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Türkiye’s stance on Cyprus is crystal clear; Cyprus is a national cause for Türkiye.

Emphasizing that ensuring the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots is a basic policy for Türkiye, Fidan said “We will continue to protect our rights and interests in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean with sensitivity.”

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the 14th Ambassadors Conference that was realized at the Turkish Presidential complex and touched upon the Cyprus issue.

During his speech at the conference Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated that Türkiye’s stance on Cyprus is clear and that Türkiye’s basic policy is to ensure the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots.

Also drawing attention to the importance of the Organization of Turkic States, Fidan said that they will work to make the existing cooperation and alliance systems more effective.

Pointing to the problems and instabilities in the neighbouring countries and the world, Fidan said that in the face of recent coups and instability in Africa, preventive steps are being taken in terms of establishing security and ensuring peace.
