The industrial and trade chambers of member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) gathered in Uzbekistan.
Representatives from the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry also participated in the meeting of the Turkic Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
A meeting titled “Business and Investment Opportunities in Uzbekistan” was organized by the Turkic Union of Chambers of Commodity and Industry in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.
High-level executives from member countries of the Turkic Council, including Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as observer countries Turkmenistan, Hungary, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), attended the meeting.
The representatives from the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry were also present.
Speaking during the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Uzbekistan, Atham Ikramov, said that Uzbekistan actively participates in the activities of the Turkic Council and its affiliated organizations.
Ikramov also added that the current meeting was a testament to Uzbekistan’s active involvement in these endeavours.
The Deputy President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Ali Kopuz, who stressed that member countries are significant global powers, said, “To harness this power, it is necessary to strengthen economic integration between nations and complete bilateral free trade or preferential trade agreements.”
The Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Ömer Kocaman, for his part stated that the trade of member countries with the rest of the world has exceeded $700bn in recent years.
Noting that the mutual trade among member countries was still at the level of 30 billion dollars, Kocaman stressed that this figure did not reflect the true potential of the organization.
