The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is celebrating its 41st anniversary.
The anniversary of the founding of the republic is being marked with various ceremonies and events.
The official celebrations commenced at noon today with a televised speech by President Ersin Tatar, followed by a 21-gun salute.
Two separate ceremonies were held at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Mausoleum and the Rauf Raif Denktaş Mausoleum.
As in previous years, delegations from motherland Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and other countries are in the TRNC to join the celebrations.
The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler, will host a reception in the Assembly garden in honour of the visiting delegations at 7pm.
Tomorrow morning, President Ersin Tatar will receive well wishes at the Presidential Palace.
In the capital, Lefkoşa, wreath-laying ceremonies will take place at the Martyrs’ Monument and the Atatürk Monument.
The official parade on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard will begin at 10am with the national anthem, inspection of the ceremonial units, and celebration of the public holiday.
Following the exchange of messages, flags brought from Lefke and Erenköy will be presented to President Ersin Tatar.
The ceremony will continue with speeches by President Tatar and Turkish Vice President, Cevdet Yılmaz, and will conclude with a formal parade.
Solo Türk (the Turkish Air Force’s demonstration team) will perform in front of the Atatürk Monument in Girne at 3:30pm on Friday.
The Republic Day Parade will take place in Girne between 2pm and 4:30pm.
A “Republic Reception” will be held at the Presidential Palace at 6:30pm in the evening to mark the 41st anniversary of the TRNC,
The celebrations will extend to all districts and regions, featuring ceremonies, concerts by the Turkish Armed Forces Mehteran (Ottoman military band), and torchlight processions.
