The TRNC Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that the Greek Cypriot side prevented the regular passing of the convoy providing logistic supply to the military troops located at Erenköy in accordance with the Yeşilırmak Agreement.
“Although the necessary notices were made according to the agreement, the Greek Cypriot side’s prevention of mentioned regular passing aimed at providing logistic supply is a clear violation of the Yeşilırmak Agreement” the Foreign Ministry statement stressed.
“The prevention of a regular passing which has a human dimension and aimed at carrying basic needs to our troops at Erenköy and prevention of tourists who want to visit our country to pass from the border crossings by deploying 223 portable heavy weapon positions, including 35 in the buffer zone are the examples of the tension policy carried out by the Greek Cypriot side recently” the statement noted.
“Our Ministry has already taken the necessary steps at the highest level in the presence of the United Nations for the immediate termination of the Yeşilırmak Agreement violation and strongly protested the mentioned violation. It is obvious that our country will have to reciprocate if the Yeşilırmak Agreement is not respected” the TRNC Foreign Ministry statement concluded.
