The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) participated in the 15th International Citrus Congress, which is considered the most prestigious organization of the citrus sector.

The scientific study on citrus fruits conducted by the TRNC Agricultural Research Institute was presented at the congress on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus participated in the 15th International Citrus Congress held in Jeju, South Korea this year.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the scientific study titled “Selection and Molecular Characterization of Citrus Genetic Resources of Cyprus”, carried out by the TRNC Agricultural Research Institute with the financial support of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Lefkoşa, was presented on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Arkın Engüney, the project coordinator, presented this study at the congress organized every four years with the participation of 595 researchers, producers and stakeholders from six continents.

According to the statement, Engüney’s work attracted great interest at the congress and received offers of cooperation for future joint scientific research.

During the congress, information was exchanged about developments and innovations in the citrus world and the opportunity to communicate with leading researchers in the sector was obtained.

“This study, which contributed to the promotion of the TRNC’s citrus genetic resources on the international platform, was found very valuable by the scientific community,” the statement said.
