A ceremony was held in Mersin, Türkiye to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

A ceremony was organized by the Consulate General of Mersin at the Republic Square with the participation of Cyprus veterans in line with Republic Day.

TRNC Consul General in Mersin Zalihe Mendeli and representatives of non-governmental organizations placed wreaths at the Atatürk Monument.

Mendeli said that today is the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ greatest celebration.

Stating that the TRNC will continue to live as an independent and sovereign state with the rule of law despite inhumane embargoes, Mendeli noted that they will celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC forever.

Students recited poems on the meaning and importance of the day and folk dance teams performed at the ceremony.
