The Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy has highlighted the need to address the shortcomings of the social welfare system in the TRNC without further delay.

He also stressed that any new social welfare scheme needed to be comprehensive, collected under a single roof and designed in a manner which will not create difficulties for the public.

The Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy met with a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services, which are in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for a two-day working visit.

The details of various projects planned to be carried out in the field of social services were discussed during the meeting.

The Deputy Director General Türkiye’s Ministry of Family and Social Services Mustafa Tarlacı who gave information about the Family Support Centre, Social Assistance Solidarity Foundation and Social Services Centre in Türkiye said that they were ready to provide all kinds of support for the creation of a similar system in the TRNC.

Tarlacı said that the project, which was planned under three different categories, will be designed according to the needs of the TRNC.
