Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said that observer membership of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to the Organization of Turkic States was different from its other memberships in that it was registered under its constitutional name.

“We are working for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in fact, the granting of its vested rights” he told reporters.

Evaluating the latest developments to reporters on his return from his trip to Egypt, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said, “The observer membership of the TRNC to the Organization of Turkic States is different from its other memberships as it is registered under its constitutional name.”

The Turkish Foreign Minister reminded that the TRNC’s first observer membership was to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Economic Cooperation.

Stating that there was a difference in the observer membership of the TRNC to the Organization of Turkic States due to its constitutional name, Çavuşoğlu said, “The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was among member states which attended the meeting. Its flag was there among the flags of the other member states. The TRNC President Ersin Tatar and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu attended the meeting.”

Çavuşoğlu reminded that Ankara was now working full speed for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the granting of its vested rights.
