Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has cautioned that the militarization of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCASC) could trigger a new arms race on the island.
During his presentation of the 2025 budget for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and affiliated institutions at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), the Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan addressed the Cyprus issue, underscoring Türkiye’s unwavering stance.
He stated, “The militarization of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus could spark a new arms race on the island. On the matter of our national cause, the Cyprus issue, there can be no compromise on the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people. We emphasize this point on every platform, including the United Nations.”
