Turkish government donates $100,000 to CMP

The Republic of Türkiye has significantly contributed to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP), donating $100,000 to support its efforts.

The Turkish  Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Yasin Ekrem Serim, presented the donation check during a meeting with the Turkish member of the Committee, Hakkı Müftüzade, emphasizing the importance of the committee’s mission.

During the meeting held at the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa, Ambassador Serim highlighted the importance of locating and identifying those who lost their lives during the events between 1963 and 1974. He praised the dedication of the Committee, noting that it has so far identified 52% of the missing persons, who have been returned to their families.

Ambassador Serim emphasized the issue’s significance, stating, “Our hope is for the remaining missing persons to be found, identified, and returned to their families.”

He added, “The Committee on Missing Persons has taken on a vital mission. Our country makes annual donations to support the committee’s work. This year, I am pleased to present a contribution of $100,000.”

Hakkı Müftüzade, the Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Committee, noting that Türkiye has donated a total of $1.7 million since 2006.

“With these contributions, we will be able to continue our work more effectively. As always, we are grateful to our homeland,” Müftüzade stated.

Following the speeches, Ambassador Serim handed over the $100,000 check to Hakkı Müftüzade.
