The Chairman of the Türkiye-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, AK Party Konya Deputy Orhan Erdem, gave a dinner in honour of the Republic’s Assembly’s Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning Committee, which is in Ankara.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Deputy Fikri Toros, National Unity Party (UBP) Deputy Hüseyin Çavuş Kelle and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ambassador to Ankara İsmet Korukoğlu were also present at the dinner held at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA).

Delivering a speech during the dinner the Türkiye – TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman, Justice and Development Party Konya Deputy Orhan Erdem said he was delighted to be hosting the dinner in honour of the visiting parliamentary delegation.

Noting that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s speech at the United Nations and the TRNC’s observer membership to the Organization of Turkic States were very important developments; Erdem expressed his belief that there will be new steps towards the recognition of the TRNC in the near future as well.

He said as the TGNA they will continue to support the Turkish Cypriot people and expressed the hope that relations between the two delegations will further develop.

The head of the Committee Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay for her part noted that the strong bond between Türkiye and the TRNC has brought the Turkish Cypriots to where they are today and stated that the close cooperation between friendship groups and committees further strengthened these bonds.
