The Turkish Ministry of National Defence issued a message regarding the second operation launched on August 14, 1974 as part of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

In a post issued on social media by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence, it was stated that the Turkish Armed Forces, who wanted to put an end to the persecution of the Turkish Cypriots, started the Cyprus Peace Operation on July 20, 1974, and that the Turkish fighters known as the Mehmetçiks fought heroically against the Greek Cypriot terrorist organization EOKA.

The following statements were included in their posts via social media: “On July 25 and August 13, upon the uncompromising attitude of the Greek and Greek Cypriot sides at the 1st and 2nd Geneva Conference, the Turkish Armed Forces took action again with the code phrase ‘Let Ayşe go on vacation’.

On August 14, 1974, Operation Victory Plan No. 4 was put into effect and the 2nd Peace Operation began. On the 50th anniversary of the operation, we commemorate with mercy our Turkish Cypriot compatriots who were brutally massacred; our martyrs and our veterans who have passed away, and we wish our living veterans a healthy, happy and long life.”
