Turkish National Education Minister Özer paid a one day visit to TRNC

Turkish Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer paid a one day visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Wednesday.

The strengthening of special, pre-school and vocational education in the TRNC was on Minister Özer agenda.

During his visit, Özer visited the Lefkoşa Special Education Centre and opened the E-Exam Hall.

The visiting Minister was accompanied by the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu and Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu.

Özer was received by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

Speaking during the visit, Parliamentary Speaker Töre said that the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle should be explained more systematically in schools and added that the national rights and interests of the Turkish nation and the Turkish Cypriot people should be considered as a whole.”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, during his meeting with Turkish Minister Özer, stressed that education was one of the basic elements of the TRNC economy.

“We are a university island and we want to increase our quality even more” Üstel said and noted that it was pleasing that Türkiye is making an effort to share its knowledge on this issue with the TRNC.

During his visits, the Turkish National Education Minister Mahmut Özer stressed that the education system in Türkiye was getting stronger by the day and added that they want to share the experience Türkiye has gained in the last 20 years in education with the TRNC.

Meanwhile, problems in education were also discussed at a meeting held at the Ministry of National Education.

The Turkish Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu held a meeting with their delegations.

Some decisions were taken regarding the problems experienced in schools in the TRNC.

The Turkish Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced that support will be provided for the transition to full-time education in all special education schools.
