The Turkish National Security Council convened under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Cyprus issue was given room in the statement that was issued at the end of the meeting.

The Turkish National Security Council carried out a three-hour meeting yesterday under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex.

“There is a need to establish the legal basis for the activities in Northern Cyprus through a written agreement with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) authorities,” a statement issued at the end of the meeting read.

“The United Nations Peacekeeping Force’s (UNFICYP) double standards and activities regarding the sovereignty of the TRNC and the most basic humanitarian needs of the Turkish Cypriots are incompatible with its obligation of neutrality and have damaged its credibility,” it said.
