Turkish President Erdoğan sends congratulatory message to Tatar

“No one should expect the Turkish Cypriot people to give up on the state they established despite all kinds of difficulties”.

These words belong to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who sent a congratulatory message to President Ersin Tatar on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

In his message, the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the pride that the Turkish Cypriot people have in their independent state, which was formed in 1983 as a result of their unwavering desire for self-determination.

He praised the bravery and determination of the Turkish Cypriots in their struggle for independence and emphasized that they will protect their state at all costs.

Erdoğan called on the international community to recognize the independence of the TRNC and establish diplomatic, political, and economic ties with the country.

He stressed that acknowledging the equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people is crucial for finding a solution to the Cyprus issue based on the realities on the island.

Turkish President Erdoğan emphasized that peace, prosperity, and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean can only be achieved by respecting the rights and laws of all parties involved.

He also expressed the belief that if the issue of Cyprus is addressed with a realistic approach, the two states on the island can coexist peacefully and cooperate.

Erdoğan also acknowledged the significance of the flag raised on November 15, 1983, which marked an independent and sovereign Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and emphasized that Türkiye, as the Motherland and Guarantor Republic, will always support the Turkish Cypriots.

He congratulated Turkish Cypriots on Republic Day and wished the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its people a future of peace, security, and prosperity.
