The Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement for 2024 between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, signed on June 5 by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, has been published in Turkiye’s Official Gazette and is in force.
In a statement on the issue, the Turkish Vice President stressed that they will complete the projects outlined in the agreement without delay to strengthen the economic and social status of the Turkish Cypriots together with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In a post on the X social media platform, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement for 2024 between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, signed on June 5 with Prime Minister Ünal Üstel at the Presidential Complex, has completed all its processes with the decision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and was published in the Official Gazette on Saturday night, thereby entering into force.
Yılmaz noted that under the 2024 Agreement, approximately 16 billion Turkish Liras have been allocated for projects across various sectors, including transportation, infrastructure, tourism, industry, education, healthcare, energy, agriculture, modern irrigation, and entrepreneurship, with funds being carried over from 2023.
“We will work in cooperation and solidarity with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to elevate the economic and social status of Turkish Cypriots. We will complete the projects outlined in the Agreement without delay. Just as the freedom and security of the Turkish Cypriots are our national cause, a productive, growing, prosperous, and financially robust TRNC is also our national issue. I hope that the agreement, which has now come into effect in all its processes, will bring blessings to our countries and our region” he added.
