Turkish VP Yılmaz commemorates martyrs

In line with the 21st-25th of December National Struggle and Martyrs Remembrance Week, Turkish Vice-President Cevdet Yılmaz commemorated the martyrs.

In a post on social media, Turkish Vice-President Cevdet Yılmaz reminded that it had been 60 years since the Greek Cypriot terrorist organisation EOKA had unleashed a brutal and bloody campaign to indiscriminately annihilate all Turkish Cypriots.

Yılmaz who pointed out that this genocide attempt had failed as a result of the heroic resistance put up by Turkish Cypriots and Türkiye.

“The Republic of Türkiye shall continue to be by the side of its Turkish Cypriot brethren as it has in the past,” Yılmaz said in his post.

He concluded his message by paying his respects to the martyrs who fell, the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr Fazıl Küçük, the founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş and the veterans.
