An international agreement between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has been officially published in Türkiye’s Official Gazette with the signature of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The agreement, titled the “Protocol on Enhancing Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,” was signed earlier this year on January 19, 2024 in Lefkoşa.

With its publication, the protocol has now been ratified.

The primary aim of the protocol is to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations, fostering growth and prosperity for the peoples of both countries.

An annex to the protocol includes the “Türkiye-TRNC Trade and Economic Cooperation Action Plan,” outlining specific measures to advance collaboration between the two nations.

This agreement is seen as a significant step toward deepening the partnership between Türkiye and the TRNC, further solidifying their longstanding ties.
