Türkiye-Azerbaijan, Türkiye-TRNC and Azerbaijan-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups are visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The delegations, which arrived on Sunday night, will hold a variety of contacts until Thursday 16th of May.
Chairman of the Azerbaijan – TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Javanşir Feyziyev, Chairman of the Türkiye – Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Şamil Ayrım, Chairman of the Türkiye – TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Orhan Erdem and Chairman of the Azerbaijan – Türkiye Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Ehliman Emiraslanov and their accompanying delegations will hold meetings, make visits and attend openings in the country until Thursday, May 16.
The delegations embarked on their contacts in the TRNC with a visit to the tombs of Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük and Founding President R. Rauf Denktaş.
The delegations were then received by President Ersin Tatar.
Speaking during the visit President Tatar emphasized that Motherland Türkiye has always stood by the independent Turkish State, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and that the friendship groups formed are of great importance.
“With these images, we share important messages to the world,” said Tatar.
“The Cyprus cause is a national cause, the cause of both Türkiye, Azerbaijan and the entire Turkic world, and the unity and solidarity of us in the political sense is very important. Undoubtedly, the Eastern Mediterranean is also of great importance, we must protect the TRNC as an independent Turkish state so that it does not fall under the sovereignty of others. The formation of friendship groups gives us strength. Thanks to you, we can give the message that we are not alone against those who force us. I convey my respect and esteem on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot People,” said Tatar.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan – TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Javanshir Feyziyev emphasized that every Azerbaijani Turk stands by the TRNC and said, “We are always ready to support you”.
The Chairman of the Türkiye – TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Orhan Erde for his part said, “We are three states and one nation” and stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had made great efforts in the formation of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.
The Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Ehliman Emiraslanov for his part stated that as the heads of the friendship groups, they attach great importance to the development of friendship and brotherhood with the TRNC and the establishment of close relations.
Şamil Ayrım the Chairman of the Türkiye – Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, expressed his wish that the Karabakh conflict in Azerbaijan would be resolved and the problems faced by the Turkish Cypriots would come to an end and the TRNC would be recognized.
He also emphasized the importance of establishing better relations as inter-parliamentary friendship groups.
The visiting delegations were also received by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu respectively.
A working meeting between the Presidents and delegations of the Türkiye – Azerbaijan – TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups was held at the Republic’s Assembly this afternoon.
The delegations will also attend the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre Opening and Seminar Program in Lapta on May 15.
