The Turkish Grand National Assembly has donated 3 vehicles and technical equipment to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Parliament.
A ceremony, which was held in the Assembly Garden at this morning was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, some ministers, MPs and Embassy and parliamentary staff.
Turkish Ambassdor to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu spoke at the hand over ceremony that was realized at the Assembly Garden.
In his speech Feyzioğlu stated that everyone knows how valuable it is for democracy to have separate legislative, executive and judiciary and that the TRNC is ahead of many states in the world in terms of democracy standards at this point.
He said that in order to strengthen this situation, it is necessary to increase the institutional capacity of the legislative body and that as a result of the initiatives of Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre within the framework of the Development Cooperation Agreement, they have taken steps in cooperation with the former Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop and Numan Kurtulmuş and the former and new Turkish Vice Presidents.
Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre for his part said that within the framework of the cooperation agreement they signed with the Turkish Grand National Assembly, they had conveyed the deficiencies of their parliament during one of their visits to Ankara and had received assistance.
“3 vehicles and technical equipment have been supplied to us through the financial support of the Turkish Embassy Development and Economic Cooperation Office with the cooperation of the Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay” said Töre.
“It is a good thing that Türkiye exists and always helps us” said Töre and thanked the previous Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop and the then Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the current Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyziolu for the opportunities they have provided.
Töre stated that the TRNC Parliament has become stronger with these facilities and said, “God willing, we will move to our new Parliament building in 2024.”
Reminding that the whole world was treating the TRNC unfairly and does not recognize its equality, Töre said, “We exist. With the support of the Republic of Türkiye, we will further root the TRNC”
