Türkiye has expressed support for the statement issued by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) regarding the anchoring of a US submarine in a Greek Cypriot port.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they support fully the statement made by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) regarding the anchoring of the USS San Juan attack submarine at one of the ports of the Greek Cypriot Administration and its armament activities”.

In a written statement made by the Ministry, it was stated that, as emphasized many times together with the TRNC, the steps taken by the US at the expense of upsetting the balance in Cyprus and encouraging the Greek Cypriot Administration’s armament campaign does not contribute in any way to the stability of the region and to the just, sustainable and permanent solution of the Cyprus problem.

In addition, the statement said, “We call on the United States to review these policies once again. We would like to remind you that the TRNC will continue to resolutely defend its rights and interests within the framework of the responsibility granted to it by its guarantor”.
