The Turkish Foreign Ministry has reacted to the visit of a US missile destroyer to the Greek Cypriot Administration.

The statement made by the Turkish Foreign Ministry calls on the United States to review its policies and voiced its strong support to the statement made by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on this issue.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a written statement regarding the visit of the guided missile destroyer named USS Arleigh Burke of the US Navy to the Limassol Port under the control of the Greek Cypriot Administration.

The statement said, “The destabilizing steps taken by the US against the Turkish Cypriot side in the region, damage the neutral position of this country that it has maintained on the Island for many years and constitute an obstacle to a fair, permanent and sustainable solution in Cyprus.”

The Ministry stated that they strongly support the statement made by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus regarding this issue.

“We invite the United States to review its policies. We would like to reiterate that Türkiye, which is the guarantor state in Cyprus, will resolutely continue to defend the legitimate rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriots under all circumstances and conditions” read the statement.
