Türkiye’s National Security Council will convene under the chairmanship of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the new command of the Turkish Armed Forces, following appointments made by the Supreme Military Council.

The Turkish Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak, The Commander of the Turkish Land Forces General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and the Commander of the Turkish Air Forces General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu will for the first time be taking part in the meeting.

Issues relating to strategy, regional and national security, Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Aegean especially counter-terrorism operations in northern Iraq and Syria, and activities carried out within the scope of border security are expected to be taken up during the meeting.
