The 101st anniversary of Türkiye’s Republic Day was celebrated not only in the capital Lefkoşa but also with ceremonies in districts including Gazimağusa, Girne, Güzelyurt, İskele, and Lefke.

In Gazimağusa, the Republic Day celebrations began at the Victory Monument, followed by a parade to Namık Kemal Square, where the Security Forces Command Band performed.

Nermin Gecekuşu, a teacher at Eastern Mediterranean Doğa Koleji, delivered a speech emphasizing the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s Republic, which he proclaimed on October 29, 1923, following the Turkish War of Independence.

The ceremony concluded with poetry readings and a dance performance.

Girne’s celebrations at the Atatürk Monument featured poetry readings, a parade from Baldöken Car Park, and a band concert.

In Güzelyurt, the ceremony at the Atatürk Monument included remarks from Infantry Lieutenant Kağan Çetinoğlu of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Force and social studies teacher Fadime Kural, who spoke on the importance of the Republic as an enduring legacy of Atatürk’s leadership.

In İskele, two ceremonies were held at the Atatürk Monument and Ecevit Square.

Elif Besimoğlu, a Turkish language and literature teacher from Bekirpaşa High School, spoke about the transformation ushered in by the Republic in 1923, when a new governance model more suited to Turkish identity emerged.

The event included poetry readings by local students and a folk dance performance.

Lefke’s ceremony began with a parade to the Atatürk Monument, followed by a speech from Cengiz Topel Vocational School history teacher Emine Direktör, who highlighted the Republic’s significance and Türkiye’s independence struggle.

The ceremony concluded with poetry, folk dance, and a band concert.

Throughout these celebrations, officials and speakers emphasized the strength and resilience that led to the founding of Türkiye’s Republic and its enduring impact on future generations.

The events reaffirmed the importance of preserving the Republic’s values for a bright and independent future.
