The National Unity Party’s (UBP) women branches along with the party’s leader, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, laid wreaths at the Lefkoşa Atatürk Monument and the bust of Zübeyde Hanım as part of events marking the 8th of International Women’s Day.

Speaking at the second ceremony, the Minister of Health İzlem Gürçağ Altuğra hailed all women who fight for their rights, law and justice around the world. Pointing out that women make up half of the world’s population, Altuğra expressed her belief that the world can be governed much more fairly and successfully if women were allowed equal participation with men in all decision-making mechanisms.

“Making decisions on issues concerning women not only through the eyes of men, but also the eyes of women would be instrumental in achieving much more success. Of course, the presence of women is essential in an environment where men are present. With these feelings and thoughts, I would like to congratulate all of us on the International Women’s Day” she added.
