Mayor of Gazimağusa Süleyman Uluçay paid separate visits to President Ersin Tatar, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre and the Deputy Speaker Fazilet Özdenefe on Wednesday.
Speaking during his visit to President Ersin Tatar, Gazimağusa Mayor Uluçay thanked the president for his support to him as well as the people of Gazimağusa.
Stressing that the contributions of President Tatar and the government in helping the families of the Gazimağusa volleyball team in Adıyaman in the earthquake will never be forgotten, Uluçay said that unity and solidarity was the biggest form of support during such difficult times.
President Tatar also expressed his condolences to Uluçay, who had also lost relatives in the earthquake.
Expressing that this pain and grief will never be forgotten and that he will always be with the families, President Tatar said that this was part of his duty.
Touching upon the Maraş initiative, Tatar said that Gazimağusa earned a completely new element with the opening of Maraş and noted that Gazimağusa Mayor Uluçay made great contributions to the area.
He said that they were working to bring prosperity and sustainability to Gazimağusa through various projects and pointed out that the Gazimağusa port will serve the public better once renovation is completed.
Gazimağusa Mayor Süleyman Uluçay, who later paid a visit to the Republic’s Assembly, was received by the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre and the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Fazilet Özdenefe.
Speaking there, Uluçay pointed out that he had felt the parliamentary speaker’s support since the day he took office.
Also speaking during the visit, Parliamentary Speaker Töre expressed his belief that Uluçay will serve the people of Gazimağusa in the best way possible.
Stating that he followed Uluçay’s efforts closely, Töre praised Uluçay for performing an outstanding duty, embracing all circles in the city.
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Özdenefe for her part said that their hearts will continue to beat as one with Gazimağusa adding that they will always continue to be with them in terms of what can be done.
