The United Nations announced that it will bring the parties in Cyprus together in October.
UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that both sides have accepted the invitation of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and that consultation will focus on determining the path forward regarding the Cyprus issue.
It has been announced that UN Secretary-General António Guterres will bring the parties on the island of Cyprus together for informal consultations in October.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric made the announcement during a daily press briefing.
Dujarric stated that Guterres held separate bilateral meetings with President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides and invited both parties to informal consultations in October.
Noting that the consultations will discuss the future course of action on the Cyprus issue, Dujarric said, “We are pleased to announce that both sides have accepted.”
He added that the consultations were likely to take place in New York.
