President Ersin Tatar received the head of the Cyprus Universities Association and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cyprus İlim University Dr. Selman Arslanbaş and an accompanying delegation.
Speaking during the visit, President Ersin Tatar noted that difficult times had been experienced in the higher education sector due to the Covid-19 pandemic which had forced students to continue their education online due to the restrictions in place.
He also noted that the recent earthquake in Türkiye had led to a different set of problems and added that despite the economic difficulties universities were trying to stay afloat.
Tatar expressed his belief that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s brand value in education will be preserved and that the quality of education will further increase with the investments made in the education sector and the experience gained.
Highlighting the importance of drawing qualified students to the country, Tatar stated that the socio-cultural distribution of the countries where students come from is also important.
