The US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie D. Fisher visited the Gazimağusa area on Tuesday, touring the historical sites.

She also met with Gazimağusa Mayor Süleyman Uluçay.

According to a statement made by the Gazimağusa Municipality, the US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie D. Fisher met with Gazimağusa Mayor Süleyman Uluçay before touring the walled city.

The two were joined by Simos Ioannou, the so-called Mayor of Famagusta.

During the visit, the rich cultural heritage of the city and its importance for the island were discussed.
