Prime Minister Ünal Üstel expressed his happiness over the Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz’s first overseas visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Üstel said that the relationship that existed between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Türkiye was one of love, respect, trust and brotherhood.

Evaluating the visit of Turkish Vice-President Cevdet Yılmaz, to the TRNC in a written statement, Prime Minister Üstel said that they were excited and happy to be hosting the Turkish vice president.

“We are delighted to host Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz on our island on such a special day. On this occasion, I congratulate Mr. Vice President on his new appointment to this important position.”

Noting that a sincere cooperation based on love, respect, trust, and brotherhood existed between their two countries, he expressed his belief that this existing cooperation will further develop in the period ahead.

Referring to the significance and vital importance of relations between the TRNC and Türkiye for the Turkish Cypriot people, Üstel said, “Our state and our people have found Türkiye’s great and unconditional support in every area they need, ranging from security to economy, from foreign policy to the realization of major projects taking place in our country. I would like to express my gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the people of the Republic of Türkiye for their unwavering support.”

Stressing that Türkiye had become a global actor and a proven strong and powerful country, the premier highlighted the pride of the TRNC of being part of such a strong nation.

Noting that the economic and financial cooperation protocols signed with Türkiye were of utmost importance, Üstel said it was crucial for all projects being undertaken to be completed without any disruption or delay.

Stating that they planned to open the new Ercan Airport on July 20, Üstel added that the new airport will not only boost tourism but also bring quality to the transportation sector.

Describing the interconnectivity project with Türkiye as the second major project of the century, he stated that the project will change all balances on the island, guaranteeing supply and sustainability.

Touching upon the latest Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol, Üstel said that the protocol will allow the realisation of projects in various sectors such as hospitals, schools, roads, transportation, social housing, e-government, agriculture, and energy.

Reminding that the Turkish Cypriot people had infinite trust in their motherland, the prime minister said, “We continue our journey to the future with confidence with the support of our motherland. We are inseparable. We are the common defenders of our blue homeland. We are the children of a nation whose joys and sorrows are shared, and whose destiny is intertwined. No one has the power to break this, and no one will have the power in the future.”

The prime minister also said that the government fully supported a two-state solution on the Cyprus Problem.
