Üstel held contacts in Ankara

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel paid an official visit to Ankara upon an invitation by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

Üstel met with Cevdet Yılmaz at the Presidential Complex of the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, projects carried out under the 2024 Türkiye-TRNC Economic and Financial Cooperation protocol were evaluated.

In a statement on his social media account regarding the meeting, Yılmaz stated that they will ensure the necessary reforms are followed to complete the projects in the TRNC within the planned schedule.

“Our priority is to increase the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people and to ensure the development and strengthening of the TRNC. Therefore, as in the past year, we will continue our work in the coming period with productive cooperation, coordination, and solidarity. As Türkiye, we will continue to explain the just cause of the Turkish Cypriots to the international community and maintain our support for the TRNC. I thank Mr. Üstel for his kind visit” Yılmaz said.

Also making a brief statement after the meeting, Prime Minister Üstel said, “As Vice President Yılmaz also mentioned, we have been continuing our work in a very harmonious and coordinated manner over the past two years. One of the main reasons for the productive results of our efforts is political stability. Without disrupting our political stability, our stable cooperation will continue to increase in the coming period.”

As part of his contacts in Ankara, Prime Minister Üstel also met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

During the meeting, the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue were discussed.

Describing the meeting as very useful, Üstel said, “We discussed the latest developments on the Cyprus issue with the Foreign Minister. I am very pleased to see once again that the views of the TRNC government and our motherland Türkiye are in complete harmony. This gives us strength.”
