Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a written statement on Sunday regarding the investigation by the Adıyaman Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizens who lost their lives at Adıyaman İsias Hotel.

“I believe that the investigation will be completed as soon as possible and all those responsible for the loss of life of both the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Turkish citizens will receive the punishment they deserve” Üstel said.

“After the earthquake disaster, we as the government have taken a decision to seek legal action. We have filed a request for the launch of an investigation into those responsible for the construction of the İsias hotel building in which so many of our citizens perished,” Üstel noted.

The Prime Minister added that the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu had informed him that all necessary action will be taken and that the Adıyaman Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office will file a criminal investigation.

“All necessary samples were taken from the İsias Hotel today through experts. On behalf of myself, my government and my people, I would like to thank the authorities of Türkiye for steps taken without wasting any time. I believe the investigation will be completed as soon as possible and all those responsible for the loss of life of both the TRNC and Turkish citizens will receive the punishment they deserve,” he said.

Üstel also said that they will be following developments closely.
