District Congresses were held at the National Unity Party (UBP), on Sunday ahead of the party’s ordinary congress scheduled for September 21st.

Mustafa Akyön was elected as the new Head of District in Lefkoşa, İbrahim Erbildim in Girne, Mutlu Atasayan in Güzelyurt, Metin Güllü in İskele, Adil Özgey in Lefke, and Nahit Öncü in Gazimağusa.

The leader of the National Unity Party and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, in a statement regarding the congresses, stressed that there were no losers in these elections and said, “There is only one winner in these elections, and that is the UBP. The victory in these elections belongs to our party.”

District Congresses were held ahead of the National Unity Party’s Congress, which will take place on September 21st.

In the capital Lefkoşa and Lefke, there was no election as there was only one candidate each.

The two candidates were unanimously voted to the posts.

Women’s and youth branches were also determined during the UBP District Congresses.

The UBP leader and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, in a statement regarding the congresses, said, “We have conducted our congresses with elections in all districts, which turned into a celebration of democracy, with great maturity and in a democratic manner.”

He thanked all members who went to the polls, cast their votes, and contributed to the functioning of internal party democracy.

“I congratulate all our candidates who feel the passion for serving their party in their hearts and have expressed their desire to work for the party. I wish success to all my brothers and sisters who have won the elections in the duties they have undertaken. I also thank all my brothers and sisters who took part in the councils and contributed to the smooth completion of our elections” Üstel added.
