Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stressed that political stability was essential for economic growth and development.

During his visit to the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce (KTTO), Üstel stated that they would continue providing support to the business sector.

The Premier also added that significant support would be provided to various sectors through the Economic and Financial Protocol signed with Türkiye, and he announced that they are preparing legal regulations for workers coming from third countries.

Prime Minister Üstel also gave the good news that there would be a 1 TL discount on fuel on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel visited the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce on Monday as part of his ongoing visits to civil society organizations.

During the visit, which was also attended by Finance Minister Özdemir Berova, a comprehensive economic consultation meeting was held with the participation of the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz, and the Board of Directors.

The President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz stated that everyone’s main concern was improving the welfare of the people and ensuring that the economy functions smoothly.

Deniz stressed the importance of stability in achieving these goals and congratulated Prime Minister Ünal Üstel for the stability he has provided in recent times.

“While we have achieved political stability, it is essential to demonstrate full determination and courage to also ensure economic stability” he said.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel for his part noted that the common expectation of all the economic organizations and sectors they have visited was both political and economic stability.

“Everyone has realized that it is not possible to undertake long-term work or implement major projects with prime ministers who change every year and ministers who change every six months” Üstel said.

Stressing that improving the standard of living depended on development and economic growth, the Premier said, “For this, both political and economic stability are necessary. At this point, our close cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, which is the pulse of trade and the economy, will continue. By showing determination and courage, we will continue to implement reforms and pave the way for our economy.”

Üstel also stated that they would continue providing support to the business sector.

He added that significant support would be provided to various sectors through the Economic and Financial Protocol signed with Türkiye and announced that they are preparing legal regulations for workers coming from third countries.

“Employers who cover the accommodation and meal expenses of workers coming from third countries will be able to apply a minimum wage up to 30% lower. In many parts of the world, sectoral and regional minimum wage policies are implemented. Only companies that provide accommodation and meal support will be able to benefit from this, without compromising the rights of the employees” Üstel explained.

The Prime Minister also announced the good news of a price reduction for fuel products.

He said that a 1 TL discount on fuel would be implemented to keep the economy in the northern part of the island.
