Prime Minister Ünal Üstel made a statement regarding the unanimous approval of the resolution titled “50th Anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation” by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

He said emphasis on the existence of two states on the island, the support given to the vision of a two-state solution and the joint call for the recognition of our state is a historical event.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that he welcomes the statements confirming the common vision of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) towards the solution of the Cyprus problem in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which was presented with the title “50th Anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation” and signed by the Speaker of the Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş.

“The emphasis on the existence of two states on the island, the support given to the vision of a two-state solution and the joint call for the recognition of our state is a historical event” said Üstel.

He said that as stated in the resolution; “The two-state solution policy is the only way to ensure stability and lasting peace in the Mediterranean region. The existence of two separate peoples and two separate states on the island should no longer be ignored”.

“Attempts to resolve the Cyprus issue must be based on this reality. I would like to thank all political parties in the Turkish Grand National Assembly for this historic message which further strengthens our struggle and I extend my deepest love and respect to all our brothers and sisters living in Türkiye” said Üstel.
