The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation has warned that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will not hesitate in taking reciprocal steps should the Greek Cypriot Administration take restrictive measures on taxis, airport and transfer shuttles from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus carrying passengers to and from South Cyprus.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation on Monday issued a statement concerning the operation of registered taxis and airport shuttle transfers from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to the Greek Cypriot Administration.

The ministry noted that they had been hearing reports that the Greek Cypriot Administration was preparing certain regulations to restrict the crossings of Turkish Cypriot registered taxis and airport shuttle buses from carrying passengers to and from the TRNC to the airports in the south.

It said that it was monitoring this matter closely.

The ministry also said that following consultations with the relevant authorities, it was decided that depending on the steps taken by the Greek Cypriot Administration, the TRNC will not hesitate in taking reciprocal steps concerning Greek Cypriot buses and shuttles operating in the north.
